Electronic Music Industry Growth: Global Market Hits $15.1B, IMS Report Finds

The global electronic music industry has reached a new high, with a total valuation of $15.1 billion in 2025. The latest data comes from the 2026 IMS Electronic Music Business Report, presented during the opening of IMS Ibiza. Compiled by MIDiA Research, the report highlights steady growth across multiple sectors, even as the broader global climate remains uncertain.

Below is a breakdown of the key takeaways shaping the current state of electronic music.

Market Growth Continues Across Key Revenue Streams

The industry grew by 7 percent year over year, rising from $14.2 billion in 2024 to $15.1 billion in 2025. Revenue sources span recordings, publishing, DSPs, festivals, clubs, creator tools, merchandise, sponsorships, and brand partnerships.

Streaming platforms and merchandise stood out as some of the strongest contributors. This reflects how electronic music continues to perform well both digitally and in physical fan engagement.

Streaming Audiences Show Global Reach

Germany currently leads as the largest consumer of electronic music on Spotify, with 604 million monthly listeners. The United States and Australia follow with 402 million and 328 million respectively.

The report also highlights growth across the Global South, signaling a broader shift in where electronic music is gaining traction. Expanding audiences in these regions continue to play a role in the genre’s global footprint.

Ibiza Club Economy Hits New Highs

Ibiza remains a central hub for electronic music culture. In 2025, club ticket revenues reached €160 million, up from €150 million the previous year.

Interestingly, this growth came alongside a slight drop in the number of events per venue. The average fell from 144 events in 2024 to 140 in 2025, suggesting a possible focus on larger or more premium experiences rather than higher volume.

Genre Trends: Tech-House Leads, Afro-House Rises

Tech-house held its position as the top genre for the fourth consecutive year. House and melodic house followed closely behind.

One of the more notable shifts came from Afro-house, which climbed significantly in search interest. It moved from 10th place in 2023 to 2nd place in Splice searches in 2025, reflecting a growing demand for its sound and influence.

AI and Technology Continue to Shape the Landscape

The report points to AI as an emerging factor in how music is created, distributed, and consumed. While still evolving, its presence is already being felt across production workflows and fan experiences.

Electronic music, which has historically embraced new technology, appears positioned to adapt as these tools develop further.

Contrast: UK Grassroots Venues Face Ongoing Challenges

While the global electronic market shows growth, not every part of the music ecosystem is seeing the same results.

In the UK, 53 percent of grassroots music venues reported no profit in 2025, according to the Music Venue Trust. This contrast highlights a gap between large-scale industry success and the realities faced by smaller, independent spaces.

Looking Ahead

The data points to a strong position for electronic music heading into 2026. Growth across streaming, live events, and global audiences continues to support the industry’s expansion.

At the same time, shifts in technology, regional growth, and venue sustainability will likely remain key areas to watch as the year unfolds.
