Introducing The Foundry by Rareform Audio: Hollywood sound, built for composers and producers.
The Foundry Is Here
Hey world. Nathan Fields here, from Rareform Audio.
I’m excited to announce The Foundry, our new line of professional instruments, sounds, and production tools for film composers and record producers, built from the same kinds of sounds and techniques we use every day across film, trailers, television, video games, and records.
I've been making music for 20 years and composing for film, TV, and trailers for the last 11. Along the way, I've developed a fascination with building my own tools as a side hobby, always with the dream of eventually sharing that passion project with the world.
I'm excited to say that day has finally come.
I've been heads down on this for the last ten months, finding time before and after my day-to-day work composing and running Rareform and Black Sheep, staying in on weekends, and slowly chipping away at it. Now, here we are.
I've loved the entire process of figuring out how to make it all feel cohesive and then actually bringing it to life. From creating the sounds, with a huge thanks to my team for their help and support there, to designing the GUI and graphic assets myself, to figuring out how The Foundry fits under the Rareform umbrella without confusing our audience. Then, of course, there's the recording, editing, and selecting of sounds, and programming the instruments in Kontakt myself.
All of that to say, this is a huge passion project of mine, and it's an honor to finally share it with you.
Echelon: Cinematic Synths & FX was the first release, back before The Foundry had a name or a proper home. Now it does, and there's a lot more coming.
Every release helps fund the next one and allows us to keep building this into something bigger over time.
Here's what's live on The Foundry site right now.
Origin Bundle v1 // FREE
The Origin Series is our free line of Kontakt instruments, currently built around raw modular synth and Eurorack source material for film composers and record producers.
Everything starts with real hardware, real performances, and real signal paths. These aren’t sterile, overly cleaned-up sounds. The movement, artifacts, instability, grit, and imperfections are part of the character. Every loop, one-shot, texture, pulse, and tonal element comes from actual modular performances, then gets chopped, edited, processed, and shaped into something playable.
Origin began because modular synths are genuinely one of my favorite things on this planet, and I wanted to take that raw world of sound and turn it into instruments you could actually sit down and use in a track or score.
Every sound across the first three instruments came from performances on my own modular rig, recorded at 96 kHz and shaped into playable Kontakt instruments while preserving the personality of the original source.
That said, Origin may evolve beyond modular over time. That’s one of the things I love about the creative process. It starts as one idea, then takes on a life of its own and grows in directions you didn’t necessarily expect.
Let’s take a look inside the Origin Bundle:
Mod-Perc. Raw modular percussion, static-warped loops, unstable pulses, and perfectly imperfect rhythmic textures. Transients triggered through voltage, percussive forms pulled from wavetables, and shaped into controlled patterns.
Mod-Keys. A modular piano transformed into four playable voicings, from clean and intimate to dreamy and cinematic. Waveforms driven into grains, pulled apart from time and pitch, and eroded with low-fi grit.
Mod-Tones. Granular pads, drones, loops, and tonal textures shaped from raw Eurorack performances. Modular voltage moves through networks of oscillators, filters, and controlled noise, creating sounds that shift in continuous motion.
The entire Origin line is free, no strings attached. It’s our place to experiment, build useful tools, and share some of the raw sounds we genuinely love working with.
Echelon: Drum Hits // UNLOCK
I've been reaching for drum hits in trailer work for well over a decade at this point. Eventually, it just felt right for me and the team to create our own. We've had music in hundreds of trailer campaigns, along with our hits and sound design in hundreds more, so this one comes from a lot of real hours in the room, not just a spec sheet.
This is designed to be your new go-to trailer hit library. A warning up front: these are not soft, naturalistic, organic drums. These are hard-hitting, heavily layered, larger-than-life sounds built for trailers. They are intentionally exaggerated, aggressive, and anything but realistic.
The second release in the Echelon Series, Echelon: Drum Hits, is a next-generation trailer drum Kontakt instrument built for cinematic impact, with aggressive drum hits, hybrid impacts, stomps, claps, toms, metallic slams, and deep low-end strikes..
Eleven playable Kontakt patches, up to four round-robin variations per sound:
Organic Drum Hits
Alloy Drum Hits
Trailer Toms
Stomps & Claps
Stopdown Hits 01
Stopdown Hits 02
Aggressive Impacts
Metallic Impacts
Hybrid Impacts
Submerged Impacts
Deep Impacts
Plus six crafted FX built in: low-pass, hi-pass, distortion, delay, reverb, and tape.
Echelon: Cinematic Synths & FX
Now under The Foundry name, Echelon: Cinematic Synths & FX is a collection built around bold signature sounds for trailers, film, games, and modern production. 127 Serum presets with matching WAV renders, moving through aggressive pulses, distorted basses, evolving textures, dark atmospheres, and high-impact electronic sound design.
Synth Suite (Serum Presets): 127 custom presets for Serum 1 and Serum 2: arps, braams, deep hits, downers, glitch FX, leads, pads, pings, pulses, risers, signals, signatures, squeals, sub drops, and textures.
Synth Suite (WAV): 127 matching WAV renders created from the Serum presets.
Trailer Fundamentals Kit (WAV): 21 foundational cinematic FX: hits, risers, and whooshes.
275 production-ready sounds in total.

What's next
This is just the beginning. Every release helps fund the next one, with more Echelon, more free Origin instruments, and entirely new collections already taking shape.
Thank you for supporting this new passion project. It genuinely means a lot, and I’m excited to keep building it.
