We recently launched The Foundry by Rareform Audio, our new line of tools for film composers and record producers.
After years of creating music and sound design for trailers, film, television, games, and advertising, we wanted to start taking some of the sounds and tools behind our own work and putting them into the hands of other creators.
Echelon: Drum Hits is one of the first releases to come out of that idea.
Built for Impact
If you’ve worked in trailer music for any amount of time, you know how much the right percussion matters.
A single hit can completely change the weight of a moment. Toms can drive an entire build. Stomps and claps can make something feel massive without filling every inch of the mix. And sometimes you just need an impact that immediately makes something feel bigger.
Echelon: Drum Hits was built around those needs.
It’s a cinematic percussion instrument for Kontakt featuring the kinds of aggressive drum hits, toms, stomps, claps, metallic slams, stopdowns, and impacts that we’re constantly reaching for in our own work.

There are 726 mapped samples, with up to four round-robin variations per sound to keep repeated performances from feeling static.
You also get 264 standalone WAV files for anyone who prefers dragging sounds directly into their DAW rather than working inside Kontakt.
The instrument also includes six onboard effects: low-pass, high-pass, distortion, delay, reverb, and tape.
From Our Work to Yours
The bigger idea behind The Foundry is pretty simple.
We’ve spent years developing sounds, experimenting with instruments, and figuring out what actually works when you’re trying to make a piece of music hit harder, create tension, build emotion, or compete at a professional level.
Now we’re turning that experience into tools other composers and producers can use.
Echelon: Drum Hits is built specifically around cinematic impact. Instead of digging through enormous libraries looking for the handful of sounds you actually need, we wanted something we could load up and immediately start writing with.
And this is only the beginning.

Echelon: Drum Hits includes both the Kontakt instrument and standalone WAV files. It requires Kontakt 7.7.3 or newer and is not compatible with the free Kontakt Player.
